In Japanese, the word "gei" translates to arts or performance, while "sha" means people. The belt consists of two pieces; the wide belt and the bow. It is pre-tied and called an Obi; it resembles a butterfly, or Cho Cho in Japanese. Traditionally, one wears a Han-Juban underneath a kimono.
